Greensboro artist Jay Schiavone has always had a passion for the arts. “I grew up with two wonderfully talented parents” says Jay. “My father gave me an eye for detail while working with him restoring exotic sports cars. My mother, a very talented artist, taught me how to envision and produce my designs”.
Jay began his career by designing beaded and wire wine glasses 10 years ago. In 2007 he turned his attention to jewelry. From rings to earrings, to scarf rings and bracelets all his jewelry is made mostly from light weight recycled aluminum. A new line incorporates hand painted glass by his mother and other artisans. Jay’s designs can be found in over 250 stores across the United States.
Born and raised in North Carolina, Mary Schiavone’s artistic ability was evident at an early age. She expresses her love of nature in all her paintings from tranquil landscapes to inviting architecture to vibrant florals. Many of her paintings capture light and warmth by their very colors and emotions.
Mary has traveled to Italy, France and Eleuthera Island to photograph scenes and returned home to capture these studies on canvas. The interesting markets of Roussillon, St. Remey, Lourmarin and Florence with these bright colors and old world charm are a few of the subjects Mary enjoys painting.
After owning and operating a floral and gift shop for 17 years, Mary is now dedicated to growing and expanding her creative talent for her main passion of painting. An accomplished artist of impressionistic style, Mary has shown and sold her paintings locally since 1992.
Mary works creatively with her son Jay of “theartistjay.com”.
